ERC was born on the tiny island of Vieques, Puerto Rico and a few years later, expanded to Martha’s Vineyard in 2012 and Cape Cod in 2014. In 2019, we have decided to “come home” to the Eastern Shore of Virginia and offer our services to the budding tourism industry in Cape Charles and surrounding areas. This doesn’t change our life and business on Vieques, but we will not be returning to Massachusetts in the future. RIDE A PASO FINO HORSE
ON PLAYA NEGRA
Horses roam freely on the rustic island of Vieques. You’ll see them
running along the roads, playing on the beach, and grazing in herds
in the open fields. But these aren’t your average equines. They are
Paso Finos, a breed whose rhythmic gait creates a notably smooth
ride that you can experience for yourself on a tour with Esperanza
Riding Company. Settle into the saddle for a relaxing two-hour ride,
during which you’ll explore parts of the island that you can’t reach
by car. The trip goes from enjoyable to extraordinary when you
turn the corner onto Playa Negra.
As your horse frolics through the
surf on this striking black-sand beach, you’ll feel as if you stepped
out of a painting that’s so stunning, it can’t be real. But it is.
