Chatham Vineyards

Chatham Vineyards is owned and operated by the Wehner family at historic Chatham Farm which has been a working farm for four centuries. They're located on Church Creek, in Machipongo, VA (just ten minutes north of the farm).

A retail tasting room is located in the winery and outdoor seating for relaxing on a pretty day. Check their site for fun events too!

The Barrier Islands Center

The Barrier Islands Center, located on the former Almshouse Farm, in Machipongo, is a gem of a cultural history museum. It uses artfully designed exhibits and original documentary films to tell the stories of the people who lived, worked and played on Virginia's Barrier Islands. They host multiple public and private events each year.

Kiptopeke State Park

Kiptopeke State Park offers recreational access to the Chesapeake Bay. It's also a great place to explore unique migratory bird habitat along the Atlantic flyway. The park has two and three-bedroom cabins, six-bedroom lodges, RV and tent camping, yurts and a bunkhouse. Guests also enjoy the park's boat ramp, lighted fishing pier, picnic areas, 5.1 miles of hiking and biking trails, playground, beach bathhouse and swimming beach. Seasonal interpretive and educational programs focus on natural history, birding and bay ecology.
